The work of the five artists in this
show demonstrates how the artist translates the experiences of their
travels through their art in diverse ways.” Erica Harris’ extensive
travels in Asia and Central America are remembered through her
fanciful, compassionate and humorous drawings of her contacts with
the people encountered in her journeys. Gregory Paquette has
summered for years on Cape Cod. His pastels of the seaside dunes
contain the same skill and careful observation that is seen in all
Mr. Paquette’s work. The source of Robert Weiss’ watercolors, oils,
acrylics and drawings are sketches from his travel journals. Scenes
include Rome, Scotland, Mexico and California. Thomas Hagen’s oil
scenes of Sicily and Spain show his ability to capture a sense of
time and the texture of a place. New to the Object Image Elizabeth
Dagger shows her acrylic canvases of Amsterdam and Berlin. Almost
monochromatic her paintings of intimate corners and angled rooftops
have a monumental feel to them that will be familiar to anyone who
knows these two cities.
